I decided to read Here Comes Everybody: The Power of Organizing Without Organizations; The Wealth of Networks: How Social Production Transforms Markets and Freedom; and YouTube: Online Video and Participatory Culture. I should receive them by the end of next week.
I chose these books because, to me, the most intriguing thing about Internet culture is the nearly unlimited potential it provides to the world. It fascinates me that anyone with a computer holds the power to recruit legions of followers, conduct business, and share second-to-second details about their lives with countless others-all in an instant. The books that I've chosen discuss these topics. I've never really read anything about these particular subjects, but I think it will be interesting. I love the term "participatory culture;" I think it's a great, accurate label for the current communications climate.
